Goal

To eliminate hazardous child labor in Bangladesh by withdrawing children from hazardous work, ensuring their access to education, protection, rehabilitation, and skills development, and promoting a safe, healthy, and child-friendly environment.

Objective

  • - To identify and withdraw children engaged in hazardous labor.
  • - To provide non-formal and formal education opportunities for withdrawn child laborers.
  • - To support the rehabilitation and social reintegration of child workers.
  • - To provide market-oriented vocational and life skills training for older children.
  • - To strengthen awareness among parents, employers, and communities about the harmful effects of child labor and children's rights.
  • - To enhance the capacity of government institutions, employers, and community stakeholders to prevent and eliminate hazardous child labor.
  • - To improve coordination among government agencies, NGOs, employers' organizations, and workers' organizations for effective implementation of child labor elimination initiatives.

Major Activities

  • - Conduct baseline surveys and identify children engaged in hazardous work.
  • - Withdraw children from hazardous occupations and enroll them in education or rehabilitation programs.
  • - Establish and operate Non-Formal Education (NFE) centers.
  • - Provide bridge education and facilitate enrollment into formal schools.
  • - Deliver vocational skills training and life skills education for eligible adolescents.
  • - Offer counseling, psychosocial support, and case management services.
  • - Raise awareness through community meetings, campaigns, school events, and media activities.
  • - Form and strengthen Community Child Protection Committees (CCPCs) and Child Protection Networks.
  • - Engage employers to eliminate hazardous child labor and promote decent work practices.
  • - Provide family livelihood support and income-generating opportunities to reduce dependence on child labor.
  • - Monitor and follow up on withdrawn children to prevent re-entry into hazardous work.
  • - Conduct advocacy with government agencies and stakeholders to strengthen child labor laws and their enforcement.
  • - Monitor project progress, document lessons learned, and evaluate project outcomes.
